OffLingo is an offline-first translation app built around a simple promise: your words stay on your device. This policy explains exactly what data is and isn't involved.
OffLingo does not operate an account server or a cloud profile. We do not collect, store, transmit, sell, or share:
Translation, text recognition, and speech processing all run on your device. Your translated content is never sent to an OffLingo server, because there is no such server for it.
Starting with version 1.3, OffLingo sends a small amount of anonymous usage data so we can see which screens people actually use and where the app is failing them. This is the only data OffLingo itself collects.
What is sent. A fixed list of nine event names — first open, app opened, app backgrounded, onboarding finished, a translation completed, the upgrade screen shown, a purchase started, a purchase finished, a restore finished — each with a timestamp and a few short labels such as camera, voice or a product identifier. Alongside them: the app version, the iOS version, and the device model (for example iPhone17,1 — the model, never the name you gave your iPhone).
What is never sent. The text, camera images, or spoken audio you translate — not a single word of it. This is enforced in the app's code, not just promised here: the values these events can carry are restricted to numbers, true/false, and short lowercase labels matching [a-z0-9_.:-] with a 64-character limit. No sentence you translate can pass that restriction.
Who you are. A random identifier generated by the app itself on first use. It is not your Apple ID, not the advertising identifier (IDFA), and not the vendor identifier (IDFV) that would be shared with our other apps. Deleting OffLingo destroys it permanently.
Turning it off. Settings › Anonymous usage stats. Switching it off stops all reporting immediately and deletes the random identifier as well, so a later switch-on starts a new one with no link to the old.
This data is sent to a server we operate at admin.wuyuxai.com. It is not sold, not shared with advertisers or data brokers, and not used to track you across apps or websites.
Saved phrases, downloaded language packs, and app preferences are stored locally on your iPhone and remain there unless you delete the app or clear them. They are included in your device's own iCloud/iTunes backups if you use those, under Apple's control, not ours.
OffLingo does not create or maintain user accounts or cloud profiles, and you do not sign in to OffLingo. We do not receive or store your Apple ID, name, or email. OffLingo Pro purchases, subscription status, and purchase restoration are handled by Apple StoreKit using your App Store account.
OffLingo connects to the internet only for the following — never to transmit your translation content:
Camera access is requested only when you use camera translation, and images are processed on-device for text recognition only. Microphone access is requested only during voice conversation, and audio is transcribed on-device. Neither is recorded, stored, or uploaded.
OffLingo Pro is an auto-renewable subscription processed by Apple. We do not receive or store your payment details; Apple handles all billing. See our Terms of Use.
OffLingo does not collect personal data from children or from users of any age. The app requires no account, and translation content is processed on-device. The anonymous usage statistics described above contain no personal data and are not linked to any identity.
If this policy changes, we will update this page and the "Last updated" date.
